BE BOLD!

The cold weather makes us all want to bundle up in our sweats and stay warm, but you always have to remember to let your inner fashionista take over. Be Bold while you brave the winter.

Mix and match all sorts of styles, prints, textures and colors this season.
The look above is a great example to start mixing your wardrobe up, while still keeping the look right. While taking on this new found boldness, you will be able to form new outfits from the clothes you had, and maybe you will even start to wear some of those things that just hang in your closet untouched.

Don't let the dreary weather make your fashion sense be dreary too.

Fashion Advice for Finals!

Finals... It's that time of year again.
Although the only positive thing about finals week is that the semester is finally over, you have to brave the week of stress, tests and lots of vests.

While braving your finals week, dress cute and comfy.
I know that whenever I dress nice, I feel better and tend to focus more.
Dressing cute for your finals will not only make you feel more accomplished, but also may help you subconsciously focus and have more drive to do well on your exams!

Leggings will be your best friend this week, along with sweaters scarves and vests.
Make sure you dress weather appropriate and ensure that you're not going to be too hot or cold in your classroom.

Throw your hair in a cute pony, top knot or braid if you don't have time for a full blow out after a night of studying. Add an element of messy to rock a modern boho hairstyle!

Hope this helps and good luck to all the readers getting ready for finals!

Spice Up your UpDo!

Calling all DIY and hair enthusiasts!

Here is a great way to turn a drab up-do into a fab hair creation!

All you need is a pack of bobbi pins, some craft-store necklace pearls (various sizes) and thin craft wire.

The picture above shows you exactly how to make these cute hair accessories, but I'll share with you some of my tricks too!

First, I would spray the end of the bobbi pin you're using with a bit of hairspray to give it a little stick. Then, pick the desired size pearl and thread about 4 inches of wire through the hole. Thread the bobbi pin with the same wire that the pearl is attached and begin to wrap the wire through the bobbi pin tightly. Continue wrapping tight until you feel that the pearl is secure in place and cut off the excess wire. Spray it once more with hairspray and let it sit for a while for the hairspray to set into all the cracks. VOILA, you have made your first fashionista Pearl-Bobbi!

You can also do this with any other type of bead you like, but I usually stick with the pearls. Always a classic and they match with almost everything!

Hope this was helpful!

Make a Statement while staying Warm

Make a statement with bold printed coats this fall and winter.

Animal prints are very in this season, and that doesn't just apply to your shoes and tops. Bold printed, animal printed or bright colored jackets are a super cute statement piece to spice up your outfit as the weather gets cool.
When we have to resurrect our jackets after the warm summer weather, I know we always dread having to cover up our fashionable outfits with dreary coats to stay warm.
If you find a super cute coat, like the one above, you can stay fashionable but still stay warm while you take on the cold weather.
Since these bold coats are a new trend, they may be on the expensive end, but they are definitely an investment, because they're a classic and will stay in style forever, so spend a little extra and I promise you won't be disappointed!

No More Floppy Boots

DIY Boot Fillers!

Calling all riding boot lovers, here's a practical, simple and cheap fix for your boots!

Pool noodles are the perfect shape and size to fill your boots to keep them in great shape for as long as possible. All you have to do is but a few and cut them down to the size of your boots.

I've been using blow-up boot fillers and magazines, but this is definitely my new go-to fill. I know we all have those favorite pair of boots, so if you store them right they'll last forever.

Hope this helps all of the fashionistas that love their riding boots!

RIP Oscar de la Renta

This blog post is a tribute to one of the most influential men in the fashion industry.

All of the fashionistas are shocked and saddened by the news that the amazing Oscar de la Renta has passed away.

Although he is not in this world with us any longer, his beautiful designs will live on and dominate the fashion world forever.

We will miss the new looks on the runway and celebs at all the yearly events, but his memory and style will always be present.

Go-To Chilly Weather Wears

Since today feels like a winter day, I figured I would share one of my go-to chilly weather outfits for fall.

A simple shirt with a vest and a scarf.
Flannels, prints, solid colors or thin knits are all perfect to throw on under a vest for fall. Like the look above, the flannel and fur vest look super cute together, or you can change it up however you desire. Throw on a simple scarf if you have a busy shirt, or a fun printed scarf if your shirt is plain and you have a fashionable, yet warm outfit to conquer the day with.

You can pair this top half with jeans, leggings or really anything you think looks cute. Add a stylish pair of shoes and throw on some jewelry and you are all set to look perfect for fall.

When in doubt, check my blog posts for outfit ideas for all types of weather!

Here comes Halloween!

Halloween is almost here & that means we are all scrambling to figure out the cutest costume we can possible put together for the night.
I think, as most other girls do, that dressing up scary on Halloween is just not cute... Halloween is a night to play pretend and dress up like a super girly animal, princess, celeb or really anything.

The picture above is just 4 of the millions of ideas for costume makeup for any Halloween party you may be attending. I know costumes can get expensive, especially having to buy all the accessories for the multiple parties you'll be attending.

So my suggestion is for one or all of your costumes, do a cute makeup look like the ones here, and then the actual costume can be simple and easy. These looks will get you noticed and will save you money.

Just as an example, for the deer costume makeup, you could wear a simple brown dress, or brown leggings and a long sleeve shirt, and spice it up with whatever shoes you want. I am likely to bet that you either will already have those things or you can borrow it from a friend, and viola! You now have a prize-worthy costume and you didn't have to drain your bank account in the process.

My favorite is definitely the deer makeup, just because its very different and I've never seen anything like that before, but the cheetah and the mermaid faces are super fun too. The sparkle mask is another favorite because you can use that for lots of different costume ideas, like a fairy, girly superhero, a princess and whatever else you can think of!

Hope these ideas helped you guys out!

Stay tuned for more posts each week & share your costumes!

Calling all followers looking for a change! Long Bobs (or as I call them, Lobs) are a great and easy hairstyle to amp up your new fall look.

Since I have been absent on this page for quite a while, I figured I would start back up by posting about the new, short-haired, me!

We all know, including myself, that long hair is amazing, and looks killer in those amazing hairstyles you see all over your Pinterest feed, but new hairstyles and cuts are a great way to create a new and improved image of yourself.

I've always loved the lob look, but I was always too afraid to cut all my hair off. I finally took the leap of faith this past weekend, and I could not be happier with the result. I love the new me look and my hair is healthier than ever.

Like most of you, I've had long hair FOREVER, like I mean 6+ years, and I was ready for a change and a new look. Trust me when I say that IT IS NOT THE END OF THE WORLD.
YOUR HAIR WILL GROW BACK!!

You can visit my Pinterest page and look at my board named "Hair & Makeup" for cut ideas and styles. Change it up this fall, and show the world the new, and improved you!

S & B Rock the MET Gala Red Carpet

Happy Fashionista Friday!

Since the MET Gala was this week, I think it is fully appropriate to blog about S & B and how fabulous they looked at the event. UGH I love these two!

This dynamic duo knows fashion, both in Gossip Girl and here on the red carpet, these ladies know how to dress to impress and inspire fellow fashionistas.

Blake Lively's dress is gorgeous, so flattering, and perfect. The color works so well with her skin tone, and that hair! The pin-up swoop curls play perfectly with her whole look. And to finish off the outfit, she paired her super-sexy man, Ryan Reynolds, on her hip. How perfect can she be?!

Leighton Meester also looked stunning with her Gatsbyesque long-sleeved dress. The intricacy of the beading and stones all over the dress are so unique, because, lets face it, does Blair Waldorf ever skimp out when it comes to fashion? She will never fail to turn heads in any room, or carpet she arrives to. Paired with a strappy heel, relaxed curled hair, and the sexy slit up the leg, Leighton Meester definitely made the best-dressed list in my book!

As Blair said in the show, and I couldn't have said better myself,  "Fashion is the most powerful art there is. It's movement, design and architecture all in one. It shows the world who we are and who we are supposed to be."

PINK is the New Red

"Pink is the new red."

Happy Fashionista Friday Everyone!
Today's post is all about the "it" color for this summer: PINK!

As you can see in this picture, and probably every store you have passed in the mall with their new spring and summer collections out, you can see that something pink, or in the pink family, has been incorporated into almost every outfit. Whether its the blouse, pants, or statement accessory, adding pink to your wardrobe this spring and summer is a must!

You can make an outfit trendy, or stick with the classics, do a bold print or keep it simple, but I'm telling you, make it pink!

The above looks are just some guidelines if you need help to match pink with things other than your favorite pair of denim. The first look is a simple hot pink tank tucked into a striped black and white skirt. The pink perfectly compliments the black and white, leaving you with a super cute, classic outfit for wherever you may be going. The rest of the looks all incorporate a pair of pink pants, some more dressy than others. The first look ties in a tucked polka dotted shirt underneath a white blazer, a bulky statement necklace and a little pop of color with the yellow envelope bag. The whole outfit plays well on each other with the different colors and patters, yet they all come together and make the outfit rock! The next look is a bit more simple, including pink pants again, and a navy and creme chevron top. The look is finished off with a sleek hairstyle and a layered chain necklace. This outfit is perfect for something formal, yet fun. And last but not least, and my personal favorite, is the last look. This look, of course, incorporates the pink pants again, but these are skinnies and a bit more casual than the other two. They're paired with a navy and white striped tee, left un-tucked, and a casual navy blazer. The outfit is finished off with sandals and my favorite part, the pink bag! This look is the perfect balance of preppy, cute, casual and dressy all at once, and I love it!

Pink, Pink, Pink! You can show off your hot pink, or any other pink your heart desires, including salmon, peachy-pinks and light pinks this summer. As you can see in the looks above, navy, black, creme and white are all colors that will never fail to match with your pink. You can stay safe and follow these color guidelines, or go big and color-block or print-mix! I trust your judgement since I've been teaching you so well!

Stay Girly! xoxo

DIY Lace Trim Shorts

We all have a pair of shorts that we love, but hey just may be a liiiitle too short..
I'm here to show you the perfect solution that you can start working on now to make those not-so-appropriate shorts wearable this summer!

As shown above, all you need is a pair of shorts, some lace from your local fabric or craft store, a needle and thread, scissors and pins.

To start, pin the lace around the legs of the shorts, making sure it is the length you desire and even on both sides. After that has been done, start sewing your way around (I would recommend twice so that the lace is guaranteed to stay on) and now you have new and improved lace-trim shorts!

This DIY project will add a little spice to those plain shorts you once owned, and transform them into something fashionable!

Start Popping with Color

Now that spring is here, I know we're all itching to wear our colored denim and pastel colored peices, but with the weather still being cold, I know it's been difficult to do that...

Here's an outfit idea that will allow you to incorporate some of your colorful spring wardrobe, but won't leave you out in the cold to freeze!

Colored denim are a must for spring. Weather it's light pink like the picture shown above, or something totally different like electric blue, you can pair it with a light sweater and make it work, while staying weather appropriate.

I love the skinny jeans with an oversized sweater look. It's cute, comfy and casual!  For the warmer days you can cuff your jeans, throw on a pair of flats and you're set.

You can match your favorite bag and accessories to complete the outfit and now you are ready to take on a beautiful spring day in style!

Hope this helps you dress cute for this werid "change-of-season" weather! Mix, match and master!

SMILE!

"A Smile is the prettiest thing you can wear." :)

A smile is the best accessory and should be worn with every fashionable outfit that you wear. It can change a look from drab to fab in minutes.

There is so much in life to smile about. Smile, Smile, Smile and make the world shine.

Slip-Be-Gone

Today I'm not posting about fashion trends, but how to store those fashionable clothes you love!

I saw this and had to share with all my followers. Everyone hates those hangers that you buy, hang all your things on, and then the next time you open your closet they're on the floor because they slid right off the hangers.

Here's a DIY project to make your cheap hangers as effective as the cloth, huggable hangers which cost much much more. And better yet, all you need is your cheap plastic hangers and a hot glue gun!

All you have to do is turn on the glue gun and make a zig zag on the end of the hangers, in the same area where the clothing would make contact to hang. Do it to both sides and to all your hangers, wait for it to dry and VOILA! You have grippy hangers which will finally hang your clothes happily!

Hope this helps!

Trend alert: Printed Pants are a must-have for your spring and summer wardrobe!

Everyone knows how popular statement necklaces are right now, so why not make your outfit have an even bigger "wow-factor" by adding some statement making pants!

Personally, I absolutely love printed pants! They're so versatile and can make a quick and easy outfit. You can dress them up or down, paired with a plain tank or a blazer and blouse.

If you're one of those people who say the "I can't pull these off" line too often, step out of the box and buy a pair! I promise you will not be disappointed and you will get compliments everywhere you go. There are many different varieties just like any other pair of pant, having cropped, dressy, flowy and linen variations, the possibilities to make cute printed outfit a are endless!

They can be paired with any shoe or jewlery your heart desires and the rest is up to you. Be bold and stand out this spring and summer in your fashionable printed pants!

Since spring doesn't seem to want to come out just yet, you can still wear your warm winter sweaters just add a pop of color to follow the seasonal trends.

Yes, even I can admit, it is tricky to dress for "change of season". Deciding between boots or flats, sweaters or sheer tops, cropped pants or leggings, the possibilities are endless and you can end up dressing super wrong for the day.

Right now, because it still feels like the middle of winter, sweaters, jeans and scarves are your best bet. If you wear a pair of jeans, you can always roll them up if the day gets warmer, you can take a scarf off id needed and with a sweater you should always be safe.

I think this look works well for today, or any cold spring day because you're not dressing like its winter necessarily, but you can stay warm and look cute (which is most important, of course)!

Hope this helps you get through these rough final days of the bitter winter!

Huge fashion trend this spring: Printed Infinity scarves paired with a plain tee.

There's no better feeling than not having to bundle up to leave your house and not having to hide your cute outfit underneath your bulky winter coat and scarf! Not to worry, because spring is here, and I am going to fill you in on just the right things to wear.

Infinity scarves are super cute, printed, plain, paisley or purple, they're everywhere and they're a must-have in your closet this spring. This simple little circle of fabric can make your outfit go from drab to fab.

The great thing about these is that they are super easy to wear, and make a plain outfit pop.
The look above is just the right amount of everything! She's wearing a plain t-shirt, either tight or oversized, either will work depending on what you feel most comfortable in, with a cute floral printed scarf. These two pieces play well on each other because the little amount of coral in the scarf is pulled out by wearing a shirt to match. Paired with ripped, cropped skinnies, chunky gold bracelets and her open-toed ankle strap heels, this is a definite plus for your spring wardrobe.

Change up the colors, shoes or accessories and surprise yourself with how many different outfits you can pair with just one little scarf!!
